Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 slices American cheese
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1/2 cup chopped green chiles
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons diced red onion
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Lettuce and tomato slices for garnish
Instructions:
Preheat your grill or stovetop griddle over medium-high heat
Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties
Season with salt and pepper
Brush the burger patties with olive oil and place them on the hot grill or griddle
Cook for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare burgers, or longer if desired
During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of American cheese on each burger patty and allow it to melt
While the burgers are cooking, split the hamburger buns and toast them on the grill or in a toaster until they are lightly browned
In a small bowl, mix the chopped green chiles and diced red onion with mayonnaise to create a spicy mayo sauce
Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf and tomato slices on the bottom half of each bun
Top with a cheese-covered burger patty and a generous spoonful of the green chile mayo sauce
Place the top half of the bun on top of the burger and secure with a toothpick if needed
Serve the Green Chile Cheeseburger Deluxe with your favorite side dishes and enjoy
